Arum Helps Create Research Partnership for New York City Schools
Richard Arum, professor of sociology and education, has been instrumental in organizing a new group of researchers to work with the NYC Department of Education to analyze the City's public schools. The Research Partnership for New York City Schools includes researchers from NYU, Columbia University's Teachers College, and the City University of New York. It is an independent non-profit initiative developed to produce high-quality analysis and evaluation of New York City schools.
"We want to be an outside agency that is looking at data to see what is really effective," Arum told the New York Times.
The group's inaugural conference will be held on October 5 at the CUNY Graduate Center. For more information, visit http://nycresearchpartnership.ssrc.org/.
